Round Two
Sixteen more photos up in flickr.
Stories of exploits in foreign lands.
We’re taking lots of pictures, and I’ve posted a few on a flickr set. We get internet occasionally, but I’m going to have to postpone the narrative updates for now, though I promise some to come.
We’re currently stealing wireless from some unknown location on the street, and there is a group of semi-drunk pedestrians on the sidewalk next to our car, so I’ll keep it short. We got in fine and survived a rough day of jet lag. More to come once we get to better internet.
Here’s to hoping our house doesn’t flood once we’re out of the country (picture me tipping back a Guinness). Our house tends to flood when we leave the country. That is to say, it did once.
Here’s some irony for you: we’re going to Ireland, where we hope to have less rain.
I’ll try to chronicle the voyage in (relatively) dry Ireland once we’re there. And I’m going to try to take lots of pictures. I’ve been pretty bad about taking pictures at memorable events since, in the digital age now, someone else can easily email you all the best pictures. But that’s easier said than done. Emailing one photo is quite different from emailing 50. Or even 24. (Random side thought: someday, people are going to marvel at the fact that once upon a time, you had to buy rolls of film in denominations of 12. “I mean, 24 photos? What’s up with that? Why not 20 or 40?” they’ll say. Maybe they’re saying it already. Come to think of it, what is up with that?)
In the meantime, I’ll be pondering the next lie to post here. Most of my recent creative energy has gone into staying sane at the end of the school year and working on a tribute site for two retiring colleagues (hyzerpotter.ning.com), but I’ve had plenty of ideas — a mysterious band named the Sirens that leaves bars full of dead people after their concerts, an awkward brother who sets up the narrator with a call girl, a story in second person (you) in which a dude shows up at your door asking where Andre is, and another chapter of the doppelganger story. Mostly, I’m just writing them down here to remind myself. I know they make other things for the same purpose, like post-it notes and napkins, but this way it’s public, so I really need to follow through.
I have been keeping up with wiscotumblr, though. So, yeah.
Kinsale, Ireland.
Some final Oregon pics up in the coppermine.
We left on August 3rd. Tember didn’t want to go:
